A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I hope you had the opportunity to attend our 39th graduation ceremony on June 5th. It was a wonderful evening. Thirty Victor Valley Christian School seniors received their diplomas and began the next great phase of their lives. One third of these students had attended VVCS since 1st grade (and we showed the pictures to prove it)!

We are pleased to point out that 53% of our seniors will be heading off to four year colleges and universities (almost 40% of them will attend a Christian college). Another 37% will be attending a junior college. The remaining 10% are enrolling in trade schools. In all, 100% of our graduating seniors will be continuing their education.

It was interesting to read in the paper the breakdown for other schools. AAE had 94 graduating seniors. 22% are heading to four year schools. Silverado graduated 648 students. Only 16 % will be heading to a four year college. Another 16 % will be attending a junior college.

VVCS is proud of its Christian college prep curriculum. This year’s seniors are proof of our success. Next year’s class is poised to surpass even these numbers.

BOOKSTORE TO OPEN JUNE 30th

Starting June 30th there will be a link on our school website to our new on-line book company. Delays in receiving books from New York and the ability to have more than one level of used books caused us to hire a new on-line book company. Since their warehouse is in Adelanto, they should have no trouble getting books here in a short time.

The new website is www.myschoolbookstore.com. 7th and 8th grade books are being purchased through VVCS this year. All high school students can order their books on-line through this company. If you have any questions about books, please contact the school office.

Scheduling For 2009-2010

We are almost finished creating schedules for our students for next year. We started with juniors and seniors and are working our way down to the junior high. We are only scheduling those students who are registered for 2009/2010. If you have not yet registered for next year, please do so as soon as possible. Some classes are very close to being filled!

VVCS STUDENTS IN ACTION

Congratulations to Seth Gordon (’09) for being name the Gabrielson Award winner in the small school division. This award recognizes the top male and female athletes in the High Desert and comes with a $1000 scholarship. Rachel Conway (’09) was also a finalist.

Rachel was also named to the All-CIF Division V Softball Team along with Mary Galindo (’12). Elise Westbury (’12) was named second team.

Sophomore KELLY JUNG (’11) advanced to the final round of the Dan Stover Music Competition at the Desert Springs Marriott in Palm Desert on May 30th. She received a $500 scholarship for her performance.

THANK YOU

As this is my last issue of the Royal Times, I would like to thank all you parents for allowing me the honor of working with your children. I will always value my 3 years at Victor Valley Christian School and my time spent with the students and faculty here. May God bless you all.

Mr. S.
