A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL

One of our parents came to see me about 18 months ago. In that meeting this father grilled me repeatedly about the ability of VVCS to prepare students for college. This parent asked all the right questions and I was happy to give the answers that I knew were right. I very much appreciated this parent’s interest in his students’ education and I was pleased that I could give him the answers that I did. Last week we learned that his son had been accepted at the University of California, Berkeley, one of the most difficult schools on the west coast to get into.

UC Berkeley accepts only about 20% of the students who even try to apply there.

Besides UC Berkeley, this year’s seniors have been accepted at UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside. They have also been accepted at Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State San Bernardino. Some students have applied to out-of-state schools and have been accepted at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and Utah State University. We also have a senior accepted at the University of Redlands.

Since we are a Christian school, we are thrilled when our students choose to apply at Christian colleges. This year our students have been accepted at Concordia University Irvine, Biola, Vanguard, San Diego Christian College, and California Baptist University. Out-of-state schools that have accepted our students include Corbin College (Salem, OR), Warner Pacific College (Portland, OR), and Northwest Christian University (Eugene, OR). In addition, we have about 6 students who will begin their post-secondary careers at VVC. Acceptance letters are still coming into my office from our seniors, so I am sure there will be more schools to add to the list!
