A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Have you ever wondered why Victor Valley Christian School has been putting such an emphasis on obtaining a college education after students leave our campus? According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, in 2006 workers with bachelor’s degrees earned 28 percent more than those with associate’s degrees, 50 percent more than those with high school degrees, and 98 percent more than those who did not earn a high school diploma. Students who went on to get master’s degrees did even better. The academic name for this simple reasoning is called the "college graduate wage premium." It is the extent to which you can expect higher earnings if you have a post-secondary degree. Throughout the 20th century, college-educated workers have tended to make more money, but the college premium has rarely been higher than it is today. But it’s not all about money. Those with more education tend to be leaders in various areas. As our mission statement says, we at VVCS are attempting to train the leaders of tomorrow to become "… exemplary Christians who impact the world for Jesus Christ." It is our goal that as our graduates leave this school, they will take their faith with them and use it as a guide, both in the schools they go on to attend and in the vocations they eventually will undertake.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
On Friday, November 7th we will be have a half-day of school. We will be out at 11:00 a.m. The elementary school will have conferences in the afternoon and the 7th through 12th grade conferences will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. If you would like to meet with any teacher, please call Marlene and make an appointment.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
One of the most prestigious additions to our school this year is the establishing of our own chapter of the National Honor Society. Being inducted into this organization is one of the highest honors a student can attain in high school. To be nominated and elected (by a special faculty committee) to this group a student must demonstrate qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Having this on a high school transcript opens many doors for college and beyond. We invite you to attend our inaugural induction ceremony on Wednesday, November 19th, at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

ALUMNI NEWS
At our Homecoming Game on October 18, at least 40 alumni of VVCS came back to "the mother ship" for the evening’s festivities. At least three of these alumni, Charles Harris (’76), and Jim (’81) and Carol (’83) Conlon were watching their sons Josh Harris (’10) and Nick Conlon (’11) play in the game. Our spotlight this month is on VINCE GRAY (’08). Vince is one of our newest alumni. Vince is a freshman at Cal Poly Pomona. He is an architect major. Vince says he is enjoying life on campus and is doing well in his studies. He also plans on doing an internship with the Andrada Architect Firm out of Laguna Nigel next year. His project will be in the San Bernardino area.
One last note: Did you know that there are over 400 members on Classmates.com included in the VVCS section?
