OLD
BUSINESS:
A.
Fundraisers:
1.
Coupon
Booklets: All
teams have their books as of today. Cross
Country team has already asked for 28 more booklets.
Nanette will call on Tuesday and order 100 more booklets (we can return
unsold booklets). All ICB’s
should call or check with their teams this week.
Due to some teams not receiving their booklets until today we will extend
the deadline to Sept 19th.
2.
Jerky:
Officers gave permission to the ASB to sell jerky at this time since we
are selling the booklets. Discussion
was about when Boosters had planned to sell jerky, how this changed the plans
and what to do now. It was decided
that Fall Sport athletes will not be selling jerky.
3.
4.
Wreathes:
Kathy Lewis has agreed to Chair this fundraiser (thank you!!!).
She will work with Debi Wade to get the company information and set up
the paperwork. In the November
meeting Kathy will need to get ICBs (In Charge Booster) from each team and team
rosters. The teams selling wreathes
will be Varsity Soccer, Jr Hi Softball and Jr Hi Baseball.
The Senior Class of 2009 will also be selling the wreathes along with the
athletes. (Varsity/JV Boys &
Girls Basketball will be selling Staples Tickets at the same time!)
5.
Spirit
Items:
a.
Foam
Fingers: Order this week.
b.
Sweat
Towels: An idea to have small hand
towels with school, team and/or mascot embroidered on them to sell to the teams.
The idea was talked and someone (?) was going to look into a cost and
bring that back to the next meeting.
B.
Programs:
Renee brought a bulletin from her church that is on legal paper.
Nanette will take it to John tomorrow and work on layout ideas.
We need to sell ads to support the program’s program.
Nanette will make a sign and flyer for Fridays game and we will have a
table at the gate with this information available.
Ads will cost as follows: One
time, 3 line text = $10. All
programs-one sport-one season, 3 line $25.
One time business card space = $25.
All programs-one sport-one season, business card space = $50.
Business Card Space All Programs, All Sports = $100.
C.
Sponsorships:
Russ passed out a form letter listing benefits for large donations so we
as Booster Members can go out and solicit help.
Two suggestions were made: Arrange and coordinate with Obie on the large
amount so there will be no conflict with “Athletic Supporter” and add lower
than $100 amounts and item/product/service donations.
D.
Banners
and Booster Shirts:
The banners look great and the ‘Game Tonight’ will be hung on Friday
out by the street. Thank you Renee
for your design and help. We
ordered a few more XLarge shirts because our spirit is TOO BIG for a small
shirt!
E.
Half
Time Drawings:
The cheerleaders helped out with ticket sales on Friday and collected
over $50. JV Volleyball will be
asked to help on Sept 12, Varsity Volleyball on Oct.10th, Jr Hi
Volleyball on Oct 17 and Cross Country on Nov 7th.
Russ has a few donations at this time for drawings.
Russ will get footballs for signing before Friday’s game.
F.
Snack
Bars:
1.
Our
‘Scrimmage’ on Friday was great! Near
$600 was collected and it was a great time for all.
Thank you to Cindy and Gary for all the help and long hours!
(Snack Bar already needs a major re-stock!)
2.
Nanette
will stock the gym snack bar on 9-9 and have a table only for the scrimmage same
day.
3.
Nanette
will continue to inventory and stock the Snack Bars until we find a Purchaser.
Page will put out a note asking for someone who wants a job!
4.
Volunteers:
The schedule book is out making the rounds and we are getting volunteers.
Nanette will start calling as soon as she receives official rosters for
all sports. Anyone wishing to
volunteer should call Nanette or see Page in the office.
(Volunteer Coordinator is also a job looking for a great volunteer)
5.
Excelsior
Games: They
have three home games on our field and HD has a couple.
Obie says we have the opportunity to run a snack bar during those games
if we want. Russ will commit to
opening for those games. He will
need some help so as soon as we get those dates we will look for helpers.
Nanette and Cj will help this Saturday 9-13 for the first one.

Booster
Website: Todd
brought up the possibility of the VVCS Booster Club setting up a website.
Todd said that it could cost as low as $20 a month but would take someone
to keep it up-to-date. Russ said
from his experience it would be difficult to get people to frequent it and Page
said we still have three or four officer spots to fill as of now without
starting something new. The idea
was not dismissed; we would like to get more info on start up cost, access for
updating and what the terms on creating a site would be.
C.
Varsity
Volleyball:
The athletic department asked for help in purchasing new volleyballs.
The balls were purchased and are being used already.
We said yes to the $100 check to be written to Athletics for half of the
cost already purchased volleyballs.
D.
Cross
OPEN
FORUM:
We
still need to get a Thank you plaque or sign placed on the snack bars for the
